For Councillor
at Mid-Western Regional Council
My focus for our community
Housing
The Mid Western Area is a rapidly expanding community. Supply, demand and affordability are all intertwined in this topic. If young professionals or families can not afford to buy, rent or live in the area they will not remain. This always needs be to remembered when considering the how the community progresses forward.

Employment
The opportunity to participate in employment or run a business is a significant issue within any community. It is a topic I am very passionate about. All members of the community should feel that their councillors always value industry and what it brings to the area. Diversity of industry is just as critical to allow the community to thrive no matter what is happening with the weather, commodities or a health pandemic.
Creative Space
Recreation for young children, teenagers and adults, of all capabilities, is vital in a regional area. It provides many avenues for social interaction and a sense of belonging. Areas to undertake this need to be provided, maintained, appropriate and safe.
Notice of Motions Raised during Council Term
1. Key Worker Housing 2022
2. Mental Health Training Workshop 2024
3. Reopening of Gulgong-Rylstone Rail Line 2023
Health
The Mid Western Area has recently had Mudgee hospital modernised which is a great asset for the region. Health is not a topic that can be moved aside just because we have a new building. Working in allied health I see the growing demand for services in our area. As a health professional and mother I want to know that my council advocates the importance of having access to health services to the community.

Education
For families living and considering moving to the Mid Western Area, after housing, this would be the next line of focus. Ensuring that Mudgee, Gulgong and Kandos/Rylstone have access to early education facilities is critical in creating pathways for schooling. Advocating for the need for these services should always be a focus of council.

Transparency and Responsibility
Being an elected Councillor comes with the responsibility of accountability and transparency for financial spending of the Mid Western Areas assets and interests. Costs are high for any new project to be undertaken but the benefits to the whole community also make a strong statement to all who visit the area.

ABOUT ME
Putting My Experience
to Work
I am a working professional in the healthcare industry here in Mid Western. Having grown up in and around Lithgow and Bathurst, I have called Mudgee home since 2011, along with Jeffrey (my husband) and two young children.
Apart from enjoying living and working here, I have participated in our community firstly through the Evening Branch of the Country Woman's Association and of course sports groups including hockey, golf, swimming and tennis.
When people ask me what it is like to live in the Mid Western area, I answer, there is always something to do. There are markets, activities or events happening on the weekends. It is a place that has a lot to explore.
Becoming a parent gave me insight into accessing our area with a pram, from footpaths, to shops and even car parking, a role that Council greatly affects.
Also the great support groups, from playgroup, to ABA and at the time Mudgee Music. This allowed me and the child to get out of the house each day for one particular activity or another.

As our children has grown so has the desire for them to have the opportunity to participate in activities such as dance, music, gymnastics or anything they wish to try. It also makes me reflect on the local parks, access options for preschool and availability of child care.
Without these services in this area we could not remain living in the area, and I believe this is true for a great majority of our residents in all of our towns.
I believe you are what makes a community. This is a value that both Jeffrey and I undertake with our involvement in community based organisations. Being an elected representative allows me to make sure that the decisions being made for the Mid Western area are the right ones for families that live here.

I want to make sure that all those who live in the Mid Western area, especially with families, have a voice at the table.

To do that, I am happy to invest the time as a community representative as a Councillor.
